Ali McGregor's ALCHEMY to Play Perth Cultural Centre, Feb 17.

Direct from a smash hit season in Edinburgh and at Adelaide's Fringe, Ali's new show Alchemy draws on all of her influences from Opera, Burlesque and trashy 80's pop divas for inspiration. Working with the finest Jazz musicians, she creates unique hybrids from popular songs, standards and blues.

Expect to hear unique mash-ups and genre-defying versions of Madonna, Salt 'n Pepa, Radiohead and Elvis like they were sung by a 40's siren in a Las Vegas club.

Following on from her massive successes with La Clique and her solo shows Opera Burlesque, Midnight Lullabies and last year's FRINGE WORLD triumph Jazz Cigarette, Ali has proven to be one of this country's most versatile singers. Her incredible vocal range, entertaining and emotive performance style brings a truly individual flavour to some of your most favourite songs.

Ali McGregor traverses the worlds of opera and popular culture like no other, either as an award winning principal Soprano with Opera Australia; as an internationally renown cabaret artist; or as a regular guest on ABC TV's Spicks & Specks. As an actress her most recent role was Polly Peachum/Grace Madden in the Convict's Opera for The Sydney Theatre Company and Out of Joint directed by Max Stafford Clark.

In March 2011 Ali returned to the operatic stage taking the title role in Lehar's The Merry Widow for Melbourne Opera. She was joined by David Rogers-Smith, Roy Best and led by the operetta specialist Maestro David Kram. Her new show Alchemy continues in the jazz laden cabaret vein that made Jazz Cigarette such a well received CD release and show.
